How long have you been working with Screech Arts? I started volunteering with Screech Arts in 2018 and became a Screech Arts technician at CPL’s Moorooka service in 2019.
How did you get involved? I found out about Screech Arts through my university. Screech Arts was looking for volunteers and I needed to do some hours with a theatre company for one of my classes, so I decided to give it a go.
What has been your favourite experience with Screech Arts? My favourite experience is probably the time we got to film a music video in our Dance Troupe at Geebung.
What’s your favourite song to play in the morning to get you ready for the day? I don’t really have a favourite – I like too many! At the moment my morning song is Move Your Body by Sia.
What is your favourite Screech performance, and why? I really loved being a part of Charlie last year. It was a lot of fun and we got to involve the audience in our show, which is something I hadn’t really done much of before.
What’s your favourite activity that you do at Screech Arts? My favourite activity is actually our warm-up dances that we do in the Moorooka Musical Theatre group. Every week we like to start our workshop with a couple of dances to warm up our body and they are really high energy and super fun!
Are you a clean or a messy person? I wish I could say I’m a clean person but realistically, I’m a bit messy.
If you had to describe yourself in 5 words, what would they be? Creative, energetic, empathetic, thoughtful and silly.
Do you have a pet? I do, I have a dog named Maya!
What’s your favourite pizza topping? I like a classic ham and cheese pizza.
What else do you like to do when you are not at Screech Arts? My favourite things to do are cuddle with my dog Maya, read books, watch Netflix and dance!
Sarah is the Screech technician for the Musical Theatre Performance groups in Moorooka, and is also facilitating the Performing Arts workshops in Capalaba whilst Julie is on Maternity leave.
