A performance by Screech Arts Actors Ensemble and Dance Troupe
Screech Arts Actors Ensemble return for the 2024 Anywhere Festival with their newest physical theatre piece, Suspended in the Split Second, with the Dance Troupe supporting this performance.
This thought-provoking performance dives into the exploration of fear, to guide the audience through a relatable and confronting journey. Drawing from their own personal experiences, the performers will explore the creation of fear, its various forms, and the impact of trauma, triggers and reactions. The performance coveys the message that with connection and support, we can face our fears together.
Suspended in the Split Second uses physical theatre, dance, poetry, and dialogue to explore the actors lived experiences of fear. Using this form of storytelling aims to resonate with the audience, prompting them to reflect on their own fears, experiences and ways to overcome them. Above all, it emphasizes the importance of connections in the pursuit to move through these difficult situations.
Audience members can expect a performance that is both relatable, and at times, unsettling through this exploration of fear. Through powerful storytelling and physical theatre, the Actors Ensemble bring to life these perhaps confronting stories of fear, using mature themes and strong language to enhance the authenticity of these lived experiences.
“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear.”
Franklin D. Roosevelt

“My scenes is about when I was a little kid, and I would see a new baby, or even a toy getting ‘more love’ than me from someone else, and how that made me afraid that I would be forgotten or forced to share”.
