It’s a Boy!

Some of our Screech Arts regulars may have noticed the absence of our wonderful facilitator Julie Stewart. She’s currently on maternity leave and we’re very excited to announce the arrival of our newest Screech Arts member – a baby boy named Basil!

Julie has been a facilitator with Screech Arts since September 2017 and works with many different performers across the weekly workshops. She facilitates the Activ8 drama group in Ashgrove and Screech Arts adult groups in Capalaba and Moorooka. Julie has a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Theatre from Griffith University and brings a real sense of enthusiasm, creativity and passion to the workshops.

Not only is Julie a Screech Arts facilitator, she also enjoys appearing in a number of Screech Arts Ashgrove productions including Game of Crowns in 2019, Charlie at the 2019 Anywhere Theatre Festival, and The Box at the 2018 Anywhere Theatre Festival.

Outside of Screech Arts, Julie is a working actor and often seen on stage at Growl Theatre, most recently in a lead role in Mary Rose and My Pet Human. Her career highlights include her one-woman show, The Last Ginger, which she wrote and performed for the Anywhere Theatre Festivalin 2017;and Define Adult performed at La Boite Theatre Company in 2018.

We wish Julie and her partner James all the best during this magical time. We will miss her smiling face from our classes as she takes a break to enjoy her new baby, and we look forward to her return to Screech Arts next year!
